Reaching the beautiful island of North Cyprus has never been easier. The brand new North Cyprus airport at Ercan (pronounced Erjan), is just 35 minutes from Kyrenia. There are regular flights from a number of UK airports to Ercan, and although these flights go via Turkey, passengers remain on the plane throughout for the onward journey.
With the border crossing between North and South now permanantly open, direct flights to Larnaca airport are a popular option. Flight times are reduced to around four and a half hours, choice of flight times and departure airports is increased and there are some excellent deals to be found.

Many car hire companies operate a service from Ercan airport, but few companies in the South will offer a service if the vehicle is to be used in the North because of differences in insurance law. If flying to Larnaca, therefore, it is advisable to arrange a transfer to the villa and hire a car locally. To hire a car in North Cyprus you must have a full licence and be 25 years or over.
